Vet Assist/Vet Tech/LVT/CVT/Lead Vet Tech

We are looking for a personable, yet highly professional, service extraordinaire to join us in delivering our mission to our clients and their pets. The best suited candidates would have the following skills: a can-do attitude, great multi-tasking abilities, excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, problem solving skills, client service skills, intellectual abilities, flexibility, to work on weekends and stress-handling abilities.

General Working Conditions

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets, etc.)
  • This position demands working on special hours such as weekends, evening, and holidays.
  • Requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform duties while at the hospital.
  • Ability to walk, stand, crouch, stoop, climb and kneel, also manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 lbs.
  • Staff is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, is exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances
  • Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving x‐ray and exposure to radioactive substances.
  • High School Diploma preferred, associate/college diplomas would be a plus.
  • Experience of working with pet in clinical setting is preferred, but not required.

Client Service Representative (CSR)/Office Manager

At Family Pet Hospital, the Client Service Representative (CSR) sets the tone for the practice as we build and maintain each customer’s trust and confidence in our abilities. The CSR combines customer service skills with marketing skills to develop a relationship with our clients.

A successful CSR candidate will share Family Pet Hospital’s commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care with exceptional client service. He/she will bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm along with.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions.
  • Proven decision making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.
  • The ability to integrate new information into problem solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.
  • Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information and, invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions, selling retail products, and scheduling future appointments.

Veterinary Assistant

In this position, you will utilize your superior technician and client service skills to their fullest—delivering the highest quality preventative and medical pet care.

You will help the veterinarian by performing the following duties:

  • Prepareing the exam rooms/treatment area with necessary medical items and supplies.
  • Providing client education regarding preventive care, and helping veterinarian in treatment and surgeries.
  • Holding or restraining pets during physical exam, treatment, or vaccination.
  • Bathing and dipping pets when necessary to treat pets with skin diseases.
  • Running in‐house laboratory tests.
  • Monitoring hospitalized pets, ensuring the comfort of hospitalized patients by walking, feeding, and cleaning cages and pets.
  • Cleaning the surgical suite and instruments and sterilizing/autoclaving surgical equipment.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the hospital including but not limited to housekeeping such as laundry, mopping, cage cleaning, trash collection, and removal according to the hospital policies.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Compensation/benefits: Commensurates with education, training, and experience.

Veterinary Technician/LVT/CVT/Equivalents

In this position, you will utilize your superior technician and client service skills to their fullest—delivering the highest quality preventative and medical pet care.

You will help the veterinarian by performing the following duties:

  • Preparing the exam rooms/treatment area with necessary medical items and supplies.
  • Providing client education regarding preventive care, and helping veterinarian in treatment and surgeries.
  • Holding or restraining pets during physical exam, treatment, or vaccination.
  • Bathing and dipping pets when necessary to treat pets with skin diseases.
  • Running in‐house laboratory tests.
  • Monitoring hospitalized pets, ensuring the comfort of hospitalized patients by walking, feeding, and cleaning cages and pet.
  • Cleaning the surgical suite and instruments and sterilizing/autoclaving surgical equipment.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the hospital including but not limited to housekeeping such as laundry, mopping, cage cleaning, trash collection, and removal according to the hospital policies.
  • Applicant’s skill in following areas would be a plus: blood drawing, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, pharmacy and nursing care.
  • For CVT, LVT or equivalent with or without experience as a Veterinary Technician would be an added advantage.

Client Service Representative(CSR)

The Client Service Representative plays a key role in the hospital’s success, as his/her immediate interaction with customers, repeat visits, and satisfaction. While this position does not have any clinical duties, we encourage CSRs to be cross-trained to be very effective, as CSRs will work hand-in-hand with Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians. The CSR is responsible for:

  • Customer service functions, including: greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms.
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and reaching out to prospective clients.
  • Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments.
  • Recommending, selecting, and obtaining products and services, including prescriptions.
  • Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on general animal husbandry and non-medical pet care (i.e., heartworm prevention, housebreaking, and flea & tick control).
  • Educating clients about pet health needs and hospital services.
  • Assist incoming clients by completing the required documentation, entering all pet information and history into the computer, utilizing proper collars and tags for identification, and ensuring prompt service.
  • Hospital maintenance (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times.

 

Experience, Education, Training

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma preferred, associate/college diplomas would be a huge plus.
  • One year experience in the following professional background is preferred.
  • Veterinary, medical & healthcare fields, retail, hospitality, restaurant service, sales, management, administrative assisting, and call centers. These positions all share a common passion….the satisfaction that comes from providing an outstanding client experience.
